IMPLEMENTATION UPDATE – United we stand……..

Dear Landowner,

The month of October is over and we have all been blessed with wonderful rain.  May it continue for the entire summer;

  1. Approximately 75% of the “clause 3 waver” documents have been signed.  It is still not enough!  In order to move things along, the shares that each landowner is entitled to will be issued to only landowners who have completed all their paperwork. No clause 3, DLIO or addendum signed – no share certificate. Please urgently sign and get the documents to the secretary – Marlize admin@dinokengbig5.com.  If you have any questions or queries, please drop us a line.  We will be happy to assist.

  1. Keep and eye on the “Report Back” on our web site – www.dinokengbig5.com.  This is your information web site and contains all the current documentation.  Please visit. The draft house rules have been sent out for comment and can also be viewed on the website. Please submit any input to admin@dinokengbig5.com.

  1. Until the internal fences are removed landowners with game on their land are reminded of the following clauses from their Game Purchase Agreement:

Clause 4.1 The Game owner agrees and shall continue to manage the game sold in terms hereof until the dropping of the internal fences in the Dinokeng Game Reserve

Clause 4.3 …The Game owner shall retain a duty of care in respect of the proper care for the game sold in terms of this agreement until any internal fences on and between the game owners farm has been removed…

Landowners must please remember that all game in our game reserve still belongs to the Gauteng government.  Under no circumstances may any game be harvested in any way whatsoever.  Please feel free to contact the LOA Exco for any advice that you may need regarding the management of game on your property in the interim.

  1. The Gautrain has delayed the galvanising process for our grids on the Boekenhoutkloof Road , but they have promised them to us in two weeks time. Work has started on placing the grids along the Kaallaagte Road .  Installation for the Boekenhoutkloof road is still planned for early November.  As soon as the grids are in place internal fences can be removed.

Once the fences along the roads have been removed, wild animals will roam freely across these roads. A speed limit of 60 kph on main roads and 40 kph on secondary roads will be imposed for people and animal safety.

The speed limits pertaining to the DB5 roads will be enforced by the Local Authority  and other State Law Enforcement Agencies.

  1. A meeting with Nature Conservation will soon be held with Mr Erasmus Nkabinde of Nature Conservation to discuss:

a.      Recognition of the DB-5 as a protected area

b.     Exemption

c.      Elephant – Import permits

a.      Population control

b.     Carrying capacity

d.      Lion – Import permits

c.      Population control

d.      Carrying capacity

Introduction of lion and elephant can be anticipated by Winter 2008.

  1. As Buffalo are already on the reserve it is important to stress that from the time the grids are up on the Boekenhoutkloof road there is dangerous game loose on the reserve.  Pedestrian traffic, cycling etc will be undertaken at “own risk”. The reserve management and lodge owners will accept no responsibility or legal liability for accidents.

  1. Landowners are reminded of their contractual obligations to their employees, as per the Dinokeng Land Incorporation Agreement –

Clause 13.3 The Landowner agrees that it shall fence off, at its cost, that area of its Land comprising the housing area for all its employees and labour.

Clause 13.4 The Landowner shall be responsible for the Safety of its employees and absolves the Association, ManCo and GameCo from any liability and damages that may be caused by any wild animals.

  1. Lynn, our Implementation Manager (who can be reached on 083 885 6577) has identified the internal fences that need to be removed and will facilitate this process.  Please contact him with any concerns you may have.

Till next month….
