(On
the 17th August 2007 the Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve invited
guests to participate in their annual golf day at Zwartkop Country Club.
The day was full of fun, surprises and prizes on this beautifully
maintained golf course between Pretoria/Tshwane and
Johannesburg)
Well
our annual day on the greens has come and gone but not without fanfare,
fun and fantastic support from our stakeholders. One thing is for sure
is that all those who came to play golf on the beautiful sunny spring
day had themselves a fantastic time. The LOA received a bag full of
compliments from everyone who was there.
The prizes were outstanding thanks to the support we received from all
our lodges and product owners in the DB5 area. Many of the golfers who
have seen many such days raved about the prizes that were taken home.
With the charismatic Dale Hayes warming the crowd up by doing his
awesome tricks with a golf club, including hitting a golf ball over 200m
with a hose pipe that had a club head attached to the end, and then
leading the auction of more prizes and finally rounding off matters with
his special brand of hummer and showmanship, a really great day was had
by all.
In the process the LOA raised over R42 000 from the event, we
successfully put our brand out to a specialized targeted audience and
hosted a number of our DB5 co-sponsors such as the Gauteng Travel
Authority (who sponsored and played in the event) and Dinokeng Blue IQ
projects. In all it was a great event which did our fledging game
reserve proud. This will be an annual event and we look forward to
seeing everyone at the event next year round about the same time.
The
DB5 Game Reserve is a non profit organisation (section 21 company) which
was raising money to assist in the start up of this Blue IQ initiated
game reserve project. We aim to reclaim over 100 000 ha of farm and plot
lands which will be returned to its natural state of 150 years ago. The
game reserve will create jobs and socio economic upliftment for the
whole area.
(ps.
Dale Heyes is screechingly funny; even the non-golfers loved it!!)
The
cost of a four ball was R2400.00 which included:
-

-

Product

advantage of the opportunity to market their products and company by
sponsoring one of the 18 holes. The cost of sponsorship was R3000.00 per
hole. Sponsors put up banners and a host table on a hole of their choice.
There was one sponsor per hole and banners were allowed at the Tee and the
Greens.
